Seeing the Forest

I had a productive Sunday morning and afternoon yesterday, putting together some sci-fi jungle scenery together. I had picked up the components a month or so ago. Sunday, with two extra rugrats in the house, it seemed like a fine time to be a little anti-social and get in a bit of time with the hot glue gun.

I cut, sanded and painted the plywood bases that same month ago. The plastic flowers came from Michael's craft store - 90% off is hard to resist. I also mixed in some aquarium plants. I snipped the foliage apart and then spent maybe an hour and a half hot-gluing them to the plywood bases.

A bit of carpenter's glue and sand... a bit more cheap paint and voila!

They'll look nice mixed in with my other jungle plants, 28mm or 15mm. I have another 12" x 12" sheet of 3mm plywood. I've got half a mind to cut it into geomorphic strips to make some streams. I have some 4" wide river sections I made back in the FOW days that have served very well, but living in a flood plain / saltwater marsh, it occurs to me that more water isn't a bad thing. Plus, thinner water features would work nicely in 6mm games and I could finally replace the ugly felt strips I currently use.

Weekend Update

No gaming this weekend - we were / are busy with other things. I did make some painting progress yesterday on more of those fabulous orange DW ships.

I mentioned going down the WW2 micro-armor rabbit-hole a few posts back. I found some rather inexpensive basing material on Amazon a couple weeks ago which showed up yesterday.

Boom! 175 1 x 1 x 1/8 plastic squares for about $8.00. Not shabby. They are made of hard plastic.

A 6mm M48 Patton for size reference.

And a 15mm dude. You can see that the tiles have a bit of a lip around the edge. I sanded that down to be a bit less obtrusive. The lip may actually end up being a nice little "frame" on the finished minis. Time will tell. Flock covers everything.

I dug these up a couple of weeks ago.
If anyone wants them for the cost of shipping only, let me know. They are in very good condition. I do not know where the third book (army lists and unit stats) is.

Shinies!

It only took 2 months for them to arrive at my door, but I got some goodies in the mail today. Ordered back on 17 December, I finally got some reinforcements for my AK47 Republic forces.

3 PT-76es for the Dictator's army and a big bag o' guys with guns for the MCC rebels. I also got 72 1.25" square bases for them and other projects.

I know, not that special... but it's always fun when something shows up that you'd forgotten about completely!

Tis The Season

The season of the witch, that is. I'm on another tangent right now and have dipped my toe back in the 1/72 pool. The models are from Re...
